Seedy Shopping
March 23, 2010 – 10:10 amHeaded to Seedy Saturday on the weekend and met Mark and Pat Allen from worms@work. Bought a bag of worm castings instead of the worms. I know, kind of out of character for me as I am very process oriented, but for the time being, I’m all about results. The compost is truly lovely and I can’t wait to give the troughs a spring boost.
The shallots are two different types that will find there way to a pot very soon. Old German shallots are the slightly larger, and creamy pale yellow bulbs and the Red Sun shallots are a little smaller and golden orange. The Red Sun can be used as young green onions and they are supposed to have a mild garlic flavour to them. Stay tune for a report on that. Shallots will get planted about four inches deep with a firm, snug into the soil to tell the bulb to start growing.
