Balcony Garden – Blooming this Week
July 18, 2009 – 9:12 pmPotentilla atrosanguinea is blooming this week. An intense, rich red flower. The plant came from Rundlewood this year and the leaves are a beautiful furry gray-green when young. They have a form similar to a strawberry leave. It likes the sun. It’s planted in a trough with pinus mugho ‘Mitsch Mini’, elfin thyme and my arctic willow that got clobbered by the cold weather in the spring – so a nice hardy, collection of local plants that should winter over. The red flower, although short lived, is a treat.
